Palos Park home burglarized

A residence was burglarized between 12 and 12:45 p.m. Sept. 2 in the 10000 block of 125th Street in Palos Park. There were pry marks on the front door, and the back doors were opened, according to the police report. The residents said a gray metal lock box containing coins was stolen as well as about $200 worth of jewelry. A neighbor witnessed someone running east from the house, police said. The suspect was described as a male, between the ages of 27 and 29, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, medium build with medium length curly blonde hair, police said. He was seen carrying a dark colored backpack.

In other Palos Park police news, Matthew J. Elkins, 30, of Palos Hills, was arrested at 2:39 p.m. Sept. 7 and charged with driving with a suspended license, speeding, no seat belt and a cracked windshield after he was stopped in the 12500 block of Southwest Highway for driving 55 mph in a 40 mph zone, police said. His court date is scheduled for Oct. 1 at the Cook County 5th District Municipal Courthouse in Bridgeview.

Gonzalo Gonzales, 20, of Blue Island, was arrested at 11:21 p.m. Sept. 9 and charged with no valid license, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and no rear registration plate lamp after he was stopped in the 12300 block of South 80th Avenue, police said. His court date is Oct. 1 in Bridgeview.

Philip Lester, 28, of Mokena, was arrested at midnight Sept. 15 and charged with driving with a suspended license, no valid proof of insurance, speeding and failure to notify the secretary of state of an address change after he was stopped in the 11100 block of La Grange Road for driving 59 mph in a 45 mph zone, police said. His court date is Oct. 1 in Bridgeview.

Incident report

A retail theft was reported at 10:53 p.m. Sept. 6 at a supermarket in the 9600 block of West 131st Street, police said. The culprit reportedly stole seven bottles of liquor, worth about $200 and fled the store in a gray Ford Taurus, according to the police report.
