
Police make cannabis bust
Orland Park police arrested Anthony M. Saddy, 17, of Orland Park, and charged him with felony unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, police said. Police executed a search warrant at Saddy’s residence in the 9100 block of Fairway Drive in Orland Park as a result of an investigation into suspected cannabis sales, police said. Police seized about 120 grams of cannabis, more than $700 cash and a digital scale, according to the police report. Saddy allegedly had an additional 2 grams of cannabis and $140 in his possession. He was held pending a court appearance at the Cook County 5th District Municipal Courthouse in Bridgeview Oct. 2.
In other Orland Park police news, Adam R. Phillips, 29, of Tinley Park, was arrested at 3:37 a.m. Oct. 8 and charged with unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of cannabis, police said. He was also cited with having obstructed front windows, improper turn, improper lane usage and driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol and drugs, police said. His court date is Oct. 30 at the Cook County 5th District Municipal Courthouse in Bridgeview.
Chad J. Giacomo, 35, of Orland Park, was arrested at 9:34 p.m. Oct. 2 and charged with battery and criminal trespass to land, police said. Giacomo allegedly grabbed a waitress’ buttocks at Hooter’s Restaurant in the 15300 S. La Grange Road, and refused management’s request to leave, police said. His court date is November 18 in Bridgeview.
Juan Fernandez, 48, of Chicago, was arrested at 7:56 a.m. Oct. 5 and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, improper turn at an intersection, driving on a revoked license, and illegal possession and transportation of liquor, police said. Police were called to respond to a possible drunk driver in the 14200 block of La Grange Road and subsequently stopped Fernandez after he struck a curb at Orland Crossing, police said. His court date is Nov. 11 in Bridgeview. Theresa Travis, 49, of Chicago, was arrested Oct. 3 and charged with felony retail theft and Paul A. Williams, 52, of Justice, was charged with misdemeanor retail theft after the pair allegedly took $659 worth of merchandise from the Orland Square Mall without rendering payment, police said. Both Travis and Williams appeared in court Oct. 4 in Bridgeview.
Mary E. Berg, 21, of Chicago Ridge, was arrested at 6:27 p.m. Oct. 5 and charged with retail theft, police said. Berg allegedly took $276 worth of baby formula and energy drinks from a store in the 15800 block of 94th Avenue without rendering payment, police said. Her court date is Nov. 14 in Bridgeview.
Brandon M. Murphy, 19, of Oak Forest, was cited with possession and consumption of liquor by a minor at 7:23 p.m. Oct. 3, police said. His hearing is Nov. 18 at the Orland Park Civic Center.
Peter T. Smith, 34, of Tinley Park, was cited with retail theft Oct. 8 after he allegedly took brake pads worth $37 from his place of employment in the 7000 block of 159th Street without rendering payment, police said.
Theresa J. Whitley, 40, of Joliet, and Debra L. Miller, 51, of Morris, were both arrested at 3:10 p.m. Oct. 2 and each was charged with felony theft, police said. Whitley was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the police report. Both women appeared in court Oct. 3 in Bridgeview.
Carlos D. Maez, 31, of South Bend Ind., was arrested at 8:15 p.m. Sept. 30 and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia following a dispute with his father at the Orland Square Mall, police said. His father, Daniel F. Maez, 54, of Mishawaka, Ind., was also arrested on a warrant on a charge of parole violation issued by the Indiana Department of Corrections, police said. The pair allegedly fought about their van running out of gas, police said. When police arrived on the scene, they discovered three crack cocaine pipes in Carlos’s van, police said. Both men had a hearing Oct. 1 at the Orland Park Civic Center.

Someone stole a catalytic converter from underneath a vehicle parked at a landscaping business in the 13000 block of Southwest Highway sometime before 7:55 a.m. Sept. 26, police said.
A U.S. Naval Academy ring valued at $2,000 and a phone charger were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 14600 block of Morningside Road around 11 a.m. Oct. 7, police said.
A bracelet valued at $2,000 was stolen from a jeweler in the 800 block of Orland Square Drive Sept. 29, police said.
