Driver charged with handgun, and also possession of cocaine

Palos Heights police arrested Morton Burton 33 of Hammond Ind. at 1:42 p.m. Nov. 15 and charged him with unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance after he was stopped in the 12100 block of Ridgeland Avenue police said. Burton was stopped for driving without wearing a seat belt police said. A .38-caliber handgun with live ammunition and five grams of cocaine were found during a search of the vehicle police said. A LEADS check revealed he had a suspended Indiana license police said. He had a court date at Nov. 16 at the Cook County 5th District Municipal Courthouse in Bridgeview.

In other Palos Heights police news Yitzel Sanchez 20 of Chicago Ridge was arrested at 10:30 am Nov 16 and charged with driving without a valid driver’s license and failure to secure a children under 8 years of age after she was stopped in the 12400 block of Harlem Avenue police said She was stopped for not having a child in a restraint sys-tem before police learned she had never obtained a driver’s license police said. She has a court date on Dec 14 in Bridgeview.

Robert Kacys 26 of Oak Forest was arrested at 7:52 p m Nov 16 and charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia after he was stopped in the 12100 block of 80th Avenue police said He was also charged with obstructed rear tail lights police said Kacys allegedly possessed drug paraphernalia and a small amount of cannabis police said He has a court date on Dec 14 in Bridgeview.

Shawn Jones 21 of Orland Park was arrested at 10:45 p m Nov 16 and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol after he was stopped at a safety belt checkpoint in the 12700 block of Harlem Avenue police said He was also charged with failure to wear a seat belt and transportation of open alcohol poli ce said An open bottle of liquor was also found in the vehicle police said He has a court date Nov 30 in Bridgeview.

Joseph Bratko 21 of Crown Point Ind was arrested at 10:17 p.m Nov 17 and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended li-cense after he was stopped in the 6300 block of College Drive, police said He was also charged with failure to wear a seat belt Bratko reportedly told police he had smoking pipe in his possession police said He has a court date Dec. 14 in Bridgeview.

Michael Sutter 18 of Woodstock was arrested at 1 0:40 p m Nov 18 and charged with retail grocery store in the 6400 block of 127th Street police said. He allegedly concealed a bottle of vodka under his jacket and at-tempted to walk out of the store without paying for it police said. He has a court date on Dec. 22 in Bridgeview.

Jose De Jesus Gutierrez 25 of Plainfield was arrested at 10:44 p.m. Nov. 18 and charged with driving without a valid license, no proof of insurance and no rear registration light after he was stopped in the 12700 block of Harlem Avenue, police said. He has a court date on Dec. 14 in Bridgeview.

Robert Twitchell, 46 of Oak Lawn was arrested at 2:02 a.m. Nov. 19 and charged with driving under the influence of drugs after he was stopped in the 13000 block of Harlem Avenue. He was stopped for improper lane usage and almost striking a road bar-ricade, police said. He was also charged with driving with a suspended license, no proof of insurance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cannabis. He has a court date on Dec. 14 in Bridgeview.

Krzysztof Kula 21 of Oak Lawn was arrested at 1:32 a.m. Nov. 20 and charged with DUI and speeding after he was stopped in the 12000 block of Ridgeland Avenue, police said. He was allegedly driving 58 mph in a posted 40 mph zone. He has a court date on Dec. 22 in Bridgeview.
