
Driver charged with DUI after callers report swerving
Orland Park police arrested Won K. Kim, 31, of Orland Park, and charged him with DUI (driving under the influence) of alcohol and illegal transportation of alcohol after he was stopped near Harlem Avenue and 131st Street, police said. Two anonymous callers reportedly told police the vehicle Kim was driving was swerving all over the roadway and nearly drifted into oncoming traffic, police said. Police saw Kim’s vehicle cross over the center lane lines, nearly hit a curb and make a wide turn, according to the police report. After stopping Kim, police found an open 12-pack of beer cans with three unopened cans remaining and one open can of beer in the vehicle, police said. Kim was also cited with making an improper turn and improper lane usage when he was arrested at 3:17 p.m. April 15, police said. He has a court date of May 7 at the 5th District Municipal Cook County Courthouse in Bridgeview.
In other Orland Park police news, Lauren E. Klotz, 24, of Lockport, was arrested and charged with DUI and speeding after she was stopped in the 12000 block of 159th Street at 4:08 a.m. April 8, police said. Klotz allegedly drove as fast as 67 mph in a 45 mph zone and crossed over the lane lines on each side of the vehicle she drove. She was also charged with improper lane usage and operation of an uninsured vehicle, police said. She had a court date of May 1 in Bridgeview.
Anna A. Marinier, 19, of Palos Park, and Melissa R. Rybarski, 18, of Alsip, were each cited with retail theft at 3:02 p.m. April 11 after they took clothing items with a total retail value of $192 from a store in the 100 block of Orland Park Place, police said. One of the women watched for store employees and pointed to items while the other hid them in purses and bags they were carrying, according to the police report. Marinier and Rybarski then checked out and paid only for a pair of pants, police said. Both women had a hearing date of April 27 at the Orland Park Civic Center.
Brandon A. Martin, 21, of Matteson, was charged with retail theft at 5:25 p.m. April 13 after he allegedly took a pair of men’s sunglasses with a retail value of $76 from a store at Orland Square. Martin took the sunglasses off the display rack, placed them in a pocket in his sweatshirt and walked out of the store without paying, police said. He has a court date of June 5 in Bridgeview.
Robert D. Smith, 27, of Chicago Heights, was cited with possession of cannabis at 2:14 a.m. April 14 after police found about a gram of cannabis in his pants pocket in the parking lot of Wendy’s, 14555 La Grange Road, police said. Smith was parked in a vehicle with another man, and smoking a cigar police thought might have been cannabis, according to the police report. He has a court date of May 8 in Orland Park.
Luke S. Harr, 23, of Orland Park, was arrested on a warrant issued April 10 at the 5th District Municipal Courthouse in Bridgeview on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. Harr was apprehended at 2:12 a.m. April 16 during a traffic stop near Walmart, 9245 W. 159th St., and later transported to the courthouse in Bridgeview, police said. No other court information was provided.
Luna Guillermo, 31, of Orland Park, was cited with driving without a valid driver’s license after police stopped the vehicle he was driving near 9400 Orland Square Drive, police said. He was also charged with driving without proof of insurance and driving with suspended registration, according to the police report. Guillermo has a court date of June 7 in Bridgeview.
