Bridgeview OKs Electricity Aggregation

The Village of Bridgeview approved a plan of governance and operation for electricity aggregation during last week’s village board meeting.

Electrical aggregation programs are becoming increasingly popular due to ComEd’s rising rates, and Bridgeview will be joining neighboring towns Burbank and Oak Lawn in the program.

ComEd will still have to maintain electrical lines but a third party provides the kilowatts service, which provides the source for cheaper rates.

Electrical aggregation could potentially lower rates by half, anywhere from 4.5 cents to 4.9 cents per unit of electricity.

Among other news, a new automotive dealership will be making its way to Bridgeview.

Under Building, Zoning, and Economic Development, Trustee Claudette Struzik announced Ordinance 12-21, which grants a special use permit to operate an auto dealership at 7358 S. Harlem Ave.

The board also approved Ordinances 12-18 and 12-19, levying 2013 taxes for general corporation and special purposes and library purposes, respectively.
