SD 109 preschool screenings
Player Early Childhood Center, located in Justice, has begun
taking screening appointments for children who are 4 years of age. The
developmental screenings are used to determine eligibility for preschool
programs at Player School. All children must be residents of Indian
Springs SD 109 to qualify for any programming options. The screenings will
begin in March and will continue until May. The program placement options
are for the 2019-2020 school year. For more information, call Sue Penway

Heritage Middle School vs. Summit Police
Students from Heritage Middle School in Summit will take on
the Summit Police Department in a St. Baldrick’s fundraiser basketball game
from 3-6 p.m. Friday, March 8, at the Summit school. All proceeds will benefit
the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to fight childhood cancers.
Jean Derting Memorial Scholarship applications available
Indian Springs School District 109 Board President Jean
Derting Memorial Scholarship Fund has announced that college scholarship
applications are now available to students graduating from high school who as
eighth graders graduated from Wilkins Junior High School in Justice. The $500
per year scholarship is contributed to by local businesses, the District 109
Scholarship 5K Run and the Bridgeview and Justice PTAs, PTCs and PATHS Group.
Deadline for filing a completed application is 3 p.m. Friday, April 5.
Applications, filed electronically, are available on the Indian Springs School
District 109 website www.isd109.org/general_information.htm. under Community
Resources. Instructions for forwarding completed applications are stated on

LTHS South Campus Fieldhouse open for morning workout
Now that the weather has turned colder, the community is
welcome to jog, walk or run inside in inclement weather. Through March 22, the
Lyons Township High School South Campus Fieldhouse indoor track will be open to
the public from 6-7 a.m. on days LTHS is in session. There is no admission
charge or fee to use the track.
Willow Springs kindergarten screening
Willow Springs School District 108, 8345 Archer Ave. in
Willow Springs, will hold kindergarten preregistration and screening on
Tuesday, March 5, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Screenings will take about 45
minutes. Children 5 on or before Sept. 1 are eligible to enter kindergarten.
