Alice M. Cepa (nee Szymanski), age 95, late of Oak Lawn and Chicago passed

away from COVID-19 July 10.

When the U.S. declared war on Germany in 1941, the Germans

moved Alice and other American citizens to the Liebenau Interment Camp in

Germany where, as a teen, she spent the remainder of World War II.

She was involved with various organizations as a volunteer,

especially for many years with Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Beloved wife for 60 years of the late Thaddeus; loving mother of Steven

(Valerie), Edward (Linda), Ronald (late Patricia), Jerome (Kathleen) and Daniel

(Heather); devoted grandmother of LCDR James (Catherine), Mallory Letica

(Stephen), Lori, Tom (Elana), Diane, Michael (Meghan), Rebecca, Kennan (Jacob

Rosch), Erin, Reid, Lindsey, Haley, James (Tarra) Fiedler and Jacqueline

Fiedler; great grandmother of Blake & Ben Letica, Levi and Riley Cepa,

Benjamin and Alice Cepa, Kaitlyn and Joseph Fiedler, and Violet Russell; sister

of the late Henry (late Helen), late Eugene (late Mamie), late Michal and

Alfred; sister-in-law of Sabina (late Joseph) Ksziek, Eve (late Donald) Ziemba

and the late Halina (late Stanley) Zielonka; dearest aunt of many nieces and

nephews.

Lorraine Ciccio (nee Sorrentino), age 83, of Chicago’s Clearing community,

passed away peacefully July 16 surrounded by her loving husband, Victor, and

her children.

Dearest mother of Patrice (Tom) McNichols, Victor (Ieva) Ciccio, Jr., Lori

(Mark Findsen) Ciccio, James (Gosia) Ciccio; proud grandmother of Vincent

Ciccio, Victoria McNichols, Anthony Ciccio and Lia Ciccio; dear sister of the

late August “Bill” Sorrentino, late Dolores Sorrentino, late Lenore “Lee”

Scoleri, late Mario and late James Sorrentino. Fond aunt of many.

Lorraine was a longtime member of the Southside Jitterbug

Club and a loyal fan of Clear Ridge Baseball.

Family and friends gathered on July 18 for Mass in celebration of Lorraine

at St. Rene Goupil Church, 6410 W. 63rd Place, Chicago. Arrangements entrusted

to Foran Funeral Home.

Joseph “Joey” Michael Lahart, age 18, of Riverside, passed away peacefully

July 10 surrounded by his family.

Son of Michael (Kate) and Jeannette (nee Svoboda) brother to Katherine

Marie Lahart. He will be lovingly missed by his grandparents, Michael and

Barbara Lahart and Howard and Rose Svoboda and his aunt and godmother, Natalie

(Lalo) Svoboda, his uncles and aunts, Bernard and Dana Lahart and Brian and

Catherine Lahart and his many cousins.

A special thank you to his many nurses, particularly Noel

and Grandma Caroline, for their devoted and loving care to him.

Visitation was held July 14 at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. in

Summit. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only 20 people were permitted in the

funeral home at one time. Family and friends met on July 15 at St. James at Sag

Bridge Church, 10600 Archer Ave. in Lemont, for a Mass of Resurrection in

celebration of Joey. Entombment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, donations to Loyola University Medical

Center, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, 2160 S. 1st Avenue, Maywood, IL 60153,

would be appreciated.

Kazimierz Marek, age 73, passed away July 14.

Beloved husband of Alicja (nee Lach), loving father and

grandfather.

Kazimierz will be missed by all who knew him.

WILLIAM “MYKOLA” PALANYK

William “Mykola” Palanyk, age 92, passed away July 11.

William came to America in 1949 after being taken by the

Germans at age 13 to work in a forced labor camp and then by the Russians from

whom he escaped to Austria. He never saw his family after that.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was retired from Reliable Electric after 42 years.

Husband of Patricia Semerak for 65 years; father of Larry (Debbie), Terry

(Marian) and Dan (Michelle); grandfather of Lisa (Jim), Nicholas, Andrea,

Daniel, Jennifer (Dan) and the late Steven; great-grandfather of Ryan, Layla,

Allison and Kaitlyn. Many nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Ukraine.

Funeral was held July 16 from the Wolniak Funeral Home, 5700 S. Pulaski,

to Nativity BVM Ukrainian Catholic Church, 8530 W. 131st St. in Palos Park, for

services. Visitation was held July 15. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.

Adeline V. Pawlowski “Aunt Del,” age 90, of Monee, formerly of Chicago’s

Back of the Yards Community, passed away July 9.

Adeline was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Valeria and her

siblings, sister, Therese and brothers, Wally, Richie and Stas. She will be

dearly missed by her brother Ronald and her many nieces, nephews, great nieces

and great nephews.

Visitation was held July 13 until time of service at Foran Funeral Home,

7300 W. Archer Ave. in Summit. Interment

was at Resurrection Cemetery.

Jean Wesolowski (nee Pula), age 86, of Willow Springs, passed away July 14

after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Daughter of the late Walter and Anna Pula. Jean is preceded in death by

her beloved husband, Thomas Wesolowski, a Korean War veteran and the love of

her life. Loving mother of Linda (Everett) Pearce, Karen Wesolowski, Jenny

(Bruce) Mack, Tom (Margaret) Wesolowski and Ken (Lisa) Wesolowski; dear

grandmother to Justin, Eric, Brian, Lauren, Jessica, Katherine, Nicholas, Luke,

Emily, Rebecca and Teresa. She is survived by her dear sister, Darlene

Niemczura and many nieces and nephews.

Jean was blessed to have spent the last few years of her

life at Rosary Hill Home, where she was loved and cared for by the devoted

Dominican Sisters and the family is truly grateful for their devotion to their

ministry.
