Tabares tackles Central Park Avenue

For decades, Central Park Avenue (in West Elsdon and West Lawn) and its adjacent viaducts have been the poster child for government neglect–partly because the street abuts a Grand Trunk railroad embankment and is little used by motorists.

Twenty-third Ward Ald. Silvana Tabares has decided to tackle Central Park to serve her constituents. Recently, she convinced the Chicago Department of Transportation to send a crew to survey the area.

The result has been a newly paved street and viaducts getting repaired and painted.
