Ronnak Niazi

An Oak Forest man was arrested last week by Orland Police for allegedly stealing two cash registers from a restaurant in the village.

Police said Ronnak Niazi, 35, was arrested August 18 for stealing two cash registers from the Southfork restaurant, 14631 S. LaGrange Road.

Police said Niazi, who worked at the neighboring Burger King restaurant, broke into Southfork after closing on August 11 and removed the registers that contained a reported $2,500.

Police said video evidence showed a man, later identified as Niazi, forcing open the rear doors of the restaurant about 9 p.m. and removing the registers.

He was charged with one count of commercial burglary (class 2 felony) and taken to the Bridgeview Courthouse for a bond hearing.
