Let’s remember Pearl Harbor

Tuesday was Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. On Dec. 7, 1941 the Imperial Japanese Navy attacked our forces at Pearl Harbor and other locations in Hawaii, taking the lives of 2,403 service members and civilians and leading the United States to declare its entrance into World War II. It was a day that still lives in infamy.

We can remember and learn from history. May we always continue to do so.

Joyce also let me know about her positive experience with the Ace Plumbing Company. I had recommended them in a previous column. Call them at (773) 581-8310 for professional, courteous and prompt service. You may also check out their ad on the Greater Southwest News-Herald Classified Advertising page, usually page 10.

The Calvary Lutheran Church Senior Club wishes a very happy birthday to Katherine Zeleny who will celebrate her 101st birthday on Dec. 11. Happy birthday to you, Katherine! May the dear Lord bless you on your birthday and always. You are an inspiration!

Finally, I just want to say how proud I am of the preschool through 2nd grade students at St. Mary Star of the Sea School. These dedicated children have been working on a pet supply donation project called Campaign For Kindness. They distributed informational leaflets, collected a huge number of pet items and recently delivered the donations to pet shelters. Thank you to all for your hard work!
