She was the beloved wife of the late Jose Esparza; loving and devoted mother of Inez (Sylvia) Esparza, Criselda (Alfonso) Vasquez, Salvador Esparza, Lupe (Maria) Esparza, the late SP4 Guadalupe Esparza Montoya (died in action in Vietnam), the late Leonardo (Maria Elena) Esparza, the late Erendida (Angel) Guajardo and the late Angelo Esparza. Amelia will be missed by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation was held December 23 at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. in Summit. Visitation December 24 at the funeral home until time of prayers. Procession from the funeral home to Resurrection Cemetery where Amelia will be laid to rest.

Benjamin E. Ortega, 72, longtime resident of Chicago’s Garfield Ridge community, passed away December 16.

An accomplished businessman, Benjamin was the much-respected owner of Paris Jewelers on Archer Avenue for over 25 years. He will be remembered for his honesty, integrity and generosity.

He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. He was the devoted husband of Maria del Carmen Torres; loving and supportive father of Sandra (Abel) Guevara and Carina (Rick) Silva; proud and much-loved grandfather of Monica Guevara, Angel Guevara, Andres Guevara, Isabella Silva, Christian Silva and Jonathan Silva. One of 13 children of Alfonso and Margarita Ortega, Benjamin will be missed by his many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held December 26 at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. in Summit. Visitation was held December 27 at the funeral home until time of prayers. He was the beloved husband of Maria (nee Zubek), loving father of Joanna (Konrad) Wachowski, Marek Truchan, Bartek (Jowita) Truchan and Agnieszka Truchan; dear grandfather of Emma and Kyle; fond brother of Bronislawa (Stanislaw) Leja, Stanislaw (Anna) Truchan, Malgorzata (Miroslaw) Borowski, Stanislawa Truchan, Krystyna (Stanislaw) Mikos and the late Wladyslawa (late Emil) Sperlak; uncle of many nieces and nephews.

He was a member of Kolo 65 Ciche Dolne.
