Bridgeview inks deal to promote village events, tourism
By Steve Metsch
Bridgeview is again partnering with the Chicago Southland Convention and Visitors Bureau to market and promote tourism in the village.
The village board, by a 6-0 vote at its Jan. 19 meeting, approved the resolution.
Per the resolution, the bureau will “help market and promote the region for conventions, meetings, tours, sporting events and vacations.”
That includes promoting Bridgeview’s festivals, restaurants, hotels, recreational and meeting facilities and, of course, events at SeatGeek Stadium.
The Chicago RedStars women’s pro soccer team, who went to the league championship game last season, play home games at SeatGeek Stadium, which also hosts outdoor concerts.
“We’ve got the stadium. That would be a selling point,” Trustee Claudette Struzik said after the meeting.
Trustee Michael Pticek, who sat in for Mayor Steve Landek at the board meeting, said, “We’ve got a great stadium.”
“We’ve got some great shopping areas. Not only that, we’ve got a great library. We have great food, great food, some new restaurants on Harlem Avenue,” Pticek said. “And our park district is outstanding.”
“The main thing is we have are the residents who are hard-working, who love their families and their kids,” Pticek “That’s what we’ve got in this community. You can’t beat it with a stick.”
In other action, the board approved scheduling the annual Treasure Days over the weekends of Sept. 10-11, 17-18 and 24-25.
Each weekend will cover a different part of town, trustee Norma Pinion said. Garage sales and outdoor sales are offered to bargain hunters.
