New English literacy tutors ready to serve
Three new volunteer English Literacy tutors (Will Stith, Ann Wentz and Daniil Diadkov, posing with a cardboard cutout of Sister Joan Mary, O.P.) were recently added to the roster at the Aquinas Literacy Center, 1751 W. 35th St. They are expected to help address the need for English as a Second Language educators.
Those interested in becoming a volunteer English Literacy tutor are invited to consider enrolling in a training workshop, set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 30 at the center.
Volunteer tutors are needed to instruct limited English proficient adults learners for 90 minutes per week at the center. All instruction is one-on-one, and training is provided. Tutoring can be in-person, online over Zoom or a hybrid of both. Knowledge of a second language is not required. All instruction is in English.
