Bridgeview Park District donates Easter eggs to Ukrainian refugees

In a show of good will and support to the people of Ukraine, the Bridgeview Park District donated over 500 eggs to Ukrainian refugees in Poland during their annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 8.
The park district invited Rev. Vasyl Sendeha, pastor of the St. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Palos Park, to offer blessings for the families present at the event and the Ukrainian people.
After the pastor’s blessing, Park District Commissioner Mariam Ahmad presented Olenka Sendeha, the pastor’s wife, with blue and yellow roses as a thank you for the couple’s continuous efforts to support the Ukrainian community.
“The people of Ukraine suffering through this horrendous conflict need to know that that they are not alone and people from all over the world, like we here in Bridgeview, are eager to offer our support,” said Ahmad.
The community response was tremendous, officials said.
The Bridgeview Park District’s Flashlight Egg Hunt had 380 attendees who braved harsh winds, rain, cold temperatures and muddy terrain to collect over 2,500 Easter eggs scattered across the field of Bridgeview’s Commissioners Park.
