St. Albert wins Bitty Basketball championship
The St. Albert the Great Coed Bitty Basketball Team won the 2022 Championship.
The Bitty Basketball Team consists of students from third- and fourth-grade. After not having sports last year due to COVID, students returned to the basketball court with practices being held at various sites in Burbank. The basketball season runs from November to March.
On March 14, the Bitty Basketball team won their semifinal game at Hale Park against St. Daniel the Prophet’s Navy team. The championship game was played on March 21 at Hale Park against Bridgeport Catholic Academy.
St. Albert the Great students were excited and had a huge fan crowd that showed their support.
Coaches Mrs. Carrano, Mr. Moreno, and Mr. Yanez helped guide the team to victory.
St. Albert the Great School offers coed basketball as extracurricular activity to students from third- to eighth-grade.
Team players were Penelope Contreras, Mario Cordova, Katherine Kostecki, Ondrej Cizik, Alejandro Guerra, Mateo Yanez, Vicente Tristan, Gianni Carrillo, and Alexa Landa.
