Son charged in murder of Chicago Ridge man

The son of a man found stabbed to death in his Chicago Ridge home early Monday morning has been charged with second-degree murder.
Francisco Duran, 21, was charged Tuesday in the death of his father, Salvador Duran, 47, Chicago Ridge Police Chief Jim Jarolimek said in a release Wednesday.
Jarolimek said police responded to an ambulance assist 911 call at 12:44 a.m. May 9 at a single-family home at 6538 W. 106th Place.
Police said the caller, later identified as the victim’s wife Lucia Duran, stated that her son had stabbed her husband.
Police said that upon arrival, they found Duran unresponsive in the living room and had been stabbed repeatedly.
Chicago Ridge paramedics said Duran showed no signs of life and confirmed he was deceased.
Police said they located Francisco Duran in the home and took him into custody after he admitted to stabbing his father with his Ka-Bar knife multiple times in the back, chest and neck.
Police said the stabbing followed a domestic disturbance between Salvador and Lucia during which he struck her in the head with a beer can. Lucia suffered a laceration to her head and received four stitches.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a homicide and said Duran received 11 stab wounds in the chest, back and neck.
Duran appeared in bond court on Wednesday and his bail was set at $250,000. He was still in custody Wednesday night.
His next court date is scheduled for June 7 at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
