An employee at Reichman Jewelers in Oak Lawn was shot and critically wounded during a robbery Friday afternoon.

Oak Lawn police said they responded to an armed robbery at 2 p.m. at the store at 4439 W. 95th St., across the street from Advocate Christ Medical Center.

Police said they found one of the employees, reported to be a co-owner by ABC7 News, had been shot, reportedly in the upper chest and wrist. He was transported to Christ where he was reported to be in critical but stable condition.

Police said three masked black offenders entered the store, displayed their firearms and disarmed a security guard.

Police said the employee emerged from the rear of the store after he heard the robbers began breaking glass display cases and taking jewelry. The employee confronted the robbers and they shot him, police said.

Police said one of them was wearing a dark hoodie, another was wearing a white T- shirt. No clothing description was given for the third man.

The robbers then left the store and drove off westbound through the alley in a silver four-door sedan

Police asked anyone with information to please contact the Oak Lawn Police Department at 708-907-4051 or to text tips to 708-613-8477.

Reichman Jewelers has been selling fine jewelry since 1908.
