Orland Park police nab felon with a gun, stolen car parts
From staff reports
Orland Park police on patrol in the parking lot at 288 Orland Square Drive on July 21 were checking out an unoccupied vehicle with a Temporary Dealer Permit in the window when they saw a black handgun with an extended magazine on the driver’s side floorboard.
A short time later, officers observed a man, later identified as Donzel Jenkins, 30, of Homewood, approach the vehicle and open the door.

Jenkins
Officers attempted to make contact with him when he fled on foot. Jenkins was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a Glock handgun. Officers also recovered 29 catalytic converters, two reciprocating saws and a drill. Officers recovered approximately 7.6 pounds of cannabis, along with over $10,000 cash.
Further investigation revealed a current active parole status for Jenkins, who is a convicted felon.
The Orland Park Police Department is working with other police departments in an effort to identify the origins of the recovered catalytic converters.
On July 22, Jenkins was transported to the Bridgeview Courthouse where Judge Kennedy set his bail for the handgun at $250,000 and ordered him held without bail for the parole violation.
He was charged with armed violence (Class X Felony), possession of cannabis with intent to distribute (Class 1 Felony), possession of stolen motor vehicle parts (Class 2 Felony), and possession of cannabis (Class 2 Felony).
