Former Lyons trustee Richard Schuppe dies

Richard E. Schuppe, 80, former Lyons trustee and police employee, passed away on August 23.
Lyons Mayor Chris Getty ordered flags in the village to be flown at half-staff in his memory.
Getty said Schuppe served as a village trustee for one term from 2007 to 2011. He worked for the Lyons Police Department for six years after serving for 22 years as a Cook County Forest Preserve Police officer. For eight of those years, he was the canine handler.
Schuppe also served the Lyons Police Department as a “special” and a desk operator for over six years.
“Rich was a longtime resident and a dedicated public servant who cared deeply about his family. I extend my most sincere condolences to the entire Schuppe family during this difficult time.”
Rich loved NASCAR and the Chicago Cubs.
He was the beloved husband of the late Nadine (nee Salomon) Schuppe. Loving father of Brandon (Cassandra), Darrin (Deborah) and LaDonna Schuppe. Proud grandfather of Michael Schuppe, Brittany (Daniel) Bullard, Sabrina and Jacob Schuppe. Great grandfather of Anastacia. Dear brother of Joyce (Larry) Albrecht and the late Jack, the late Darlene and the late Betty Schuppe. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home 10501 W. Cermak Rd. (two blocks west of Mannheim Road) in Westchester on Thursday, September 1, from 3-8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Interment private.
