Oak Lawn man held in Palos Hills shooting

An Oak Lawn man was hit with a number of charges last week after he was arrested for a shooting in August on Harlem Avenue in Palos Hills.
Palos Hills police said Manuel A. Barrientos, 39, of Oak Lawn was charged October 26 with aggravated battery with a firearm and numerous other offenses for the August 29 shooting of a man in the 10300 block of Harlem Avenue.
Police found a man who had been shot in the foot. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The shooter fled the scene.
Palos Hills police conducted an investigation into the shooting, and after conferring with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, investigators obtained nationwide warrants for aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm for Barrientos.
On October 26, with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Fugitive Task Force, Barrientos was apprehended and was brought to the Palos Hills Police Department. Mr. Barrientos was charged with Aggravated
He was charged with battery with a firearm (Class X Felony), aggravated discharge of a firearm (Class 1 Felony), possession of methamphetamine (Class 3 Felony), possession of a controlled substance (Class 4 Felony), possession of drug paraphernalia (Class A Misdemeanor), driving while license revoked (Class 4 Felony), and fleeing or attempting to elude a peace Officer (Class A Misdemeanor).
Barrientos was transported to the Bridgeview Courthouse for a bond hearing on October 27 where he was ordered held without bond on the more serious charges.
His next scheduled court date is November 23 at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
