Hodgkins police respond to report of armed person at UPS

Spread the love

Hodgkins Police were dispatched to UPS this week after a call came in about a subject being seen with a handgun in the area of bus terminal 1 at the facility at 1 UPS Way.

Responding officers did an extensive search of the area on Tuesday, November 15, including the wooded area near 75th Street and Willow Springs Road, but didn’t find anyone.

The Hodgkins Police Department told the Desplaines Valley News that it was an active investigation, and no further information was available.

Nobody was hurt.

Pleasantdale Middle School moved into a shelter in place during the search as the police activity was underway within the school’s boundaries.

An alert was sent to parents telling them that based on the schools’ proximity to the police action, the decision was made to shelter in place.

A shelter in place at the school means that no outdoor student activities take place, and no one is allowed to enter the building. All activities within the building carry on as usual, and the shelter in place was lifted after no threat was found.
