Comings & Goings: Grand opening today for Bourbons Smokehouse at Sheep’s Food District
By Bob Bong
Sheep’s Food District in Orland Park may have something for everyone under one roof.
Sheep’s is affiliated with the White Sheep, a breakfast and lunch restaurant at 14435 S. LaGrange Road in Orland Park.
But while The White Sheep is open only for breakfast and lunch and closes daily at 3 p.m., Sheep’s Food District opens later, stays open late and caters to a different kind of crowd.
Sheep’s Food District is an umbrella that provides space for a variety of food businesses and a bar in Orland Park.
“It’s like a small plates concept,” said manager Nicole Paxton.
Food-wise there’s The Little White Sheep, which serves the same breakfast, brunch, pastries and coffee as its big sister.
The Ring of Fire offers hand-tossed artisan pizzas cooked over a wood-fire oven.
Joe Trucker has street food. “Picture half a food truck inside a building,” said Paxton.
Adult drinks are provided by the District Bar.
Starting with its grand opening today, December 9, New Lenox’s Bourbons Smokehouse will be added to the mix with its unique brand of slow-smoked barbecue just in time for Sheep’s Kringle Market on Friday and Saturday.
Bourbons opened earlier this year at 280 E. Lincoln Highway in New Lenox and this will be their second location.
Paxton said the Sheep’s Food District allows diners to partake of any of the vendors at the same time.
“You have one server and you get one bill,” said Paxton.
Sheep’s offers free Wi-Fi and there’s a room with video gaming machines.
The District Bar has longer hours than the restaurants. During the week, the bar opens at 2 p.m. and stays open until 1 a.m. On Friday and Saturday, it stays open to 2 a.m. The bar opens at 11 a.m. on weekends.
The restaurants are open from 4-10 p.m. Monday to Thursday, from noon to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
