Bridgeview police close off 95th Street near Tri-State because of oil spill and accident
From staff reports
Bridgeview Police have closed down the eastbound lanes of 95th Street between 76th Avenue and Harlem Avenue adjacent to the Tri-State Tollway off ramp as a result of an oil spill that police believe may have been caused by an earlier accident and that may have caused one other accident.
Westbound lanes of 95th Street remain open for traffic.
Police said the oil spill happened when a truck had a small accident on the off ramp exiting the tollway around 8:30 p.m. Thursday night.
A semi-truck and another vehicle apparently got into an accident and police believe, subject to a complete investigation, that the accident was caused by the spill that has covered the intersection and the street.
Bridgeview police said no one was injured and they are looking for information on the vehicle that caused the spill.
Bridgeview officials are working with the Illinois Department of Transportation to clean up the spill, but they said the eastbound lanes of 95th Street and the I-294 ramp will probably be closed for at least five more hours, at least until 3 a.m. Friday.
More information will be provided when an investigation into the cause of the spill and accidents are determined.
