Lefty was the husband for 70 years of Frances nee Adducci. Father of Dr. Ronald (Dr. Sheila) Bonaguro. Grandpa of Dr. Anne Marie, Patricia, James, Mary Therese and Michael Bonaguro. Brother of Armida (late Andrew) Galvan. Brother in-law of Isabelle Nocera. Uncle and friend of many.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Member of the Local 150 Operating Engineers Union. Retired from City of Chicago Water Department.

A Funeral Mass was held on March 6 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Visitation was held at Thornridge Funeral Home. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Shirley Annette Pagels (nee’ Bradley), 90, formerly of Oak Lawn and Palos Park, passed away of natural causes December 6, 2022, in Glendale Heights.

Survivors include her loving children Annette Strauch (nee’ Pagels), Richard, Jr. (Gloria), and Robert (Elaine), along with 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband Richard (Dick) Carl Pagels, father Roland Holmes Bradley, Mother Charlotte Annette Bradley (nee’ Harris), and sister Barbara Katherine Ward (nee’ Bradley).

Shirley was born on February 5, 1932. She grew up in Chicago, and attended Morgan Park High School.

After graduating from Business School, she married Richard (Dick) Carl Pagels in 1952, and was happily married 67 years until Dick’s death in 2020. They lived in Oak Lawn, and then became longtime residents of Palos Park, until moving to Glen Ellyn, to be close to family.

They were members of Oak Forest Baptist Temple, and later, Heritage Baptist Church in Frankfort.

Shirley worked for Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont, and Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights.

She exemplified love and sacrifice in caring for her husband, children, and parents in their elder years. She loved the Lord, her family, and her country.

The Bible verse she posted on her door shortly before going to be with the Lord was, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

Renee Romanczuk, age 53, of Chicago, passed away January 1, after a short, unexpected illness.

Renee is proceeded in death by her father Victor Romanczuk and father-in-law Leo Sr. Renee is survived by her mother Alexandra Romanczuk, mother-in-law Maria Mercado, husband Ernie Mercado, step-daughter Amanda Mercado, brother-in-law Leo Mercado Jr, brother-in-law Rey (Deb) Mercado, brother-in-law Paul Mercado and many friends.

Marie-Elizabeth “M.E.” Shober, longtime Chicagoan, died peacefully January 21, surrounded by her beloved children, Nathaniel and Evelyn.
