Comcast launches service in Palos Park

Comcast announced that it has officially launched service in Palos Park.

Village residents now have or soon will have access to Comcast’s full suite of Xfinity services, including gigabit+ internet speeds. Commercial and government entities will have access to the company’s full suite of Comcast Business services.

Comcast said service would roll out in phases across town through the end of spring. Comcast will notify residents by mail when service becomes available at their address.

Services in Palos Park will be delivered over the company’s next-generation Xfinity 10G network, which will enable even smarter, faster and more reliable service; bring wall-to-wall Wi-Fi coverage and support for the burgeoning number of connected devices – ranging from streaming devices and smart speakers to exercise equipment and smart TVs – in people’s homes; and ultimately deliver symmetrical multi-gig speeds.

“The launch of Comcast’s services and its 10G network here ushers in a new digital era in Palos Park,” said former Mayor John Mahoney. “Our residents, our students and our businesses will have access to state-of-the-art Internet and telecommunications services that rival just about any community anywhere in the country.”

Services coming

Comcast will offer the following Xfinity services to residential customers across Palos Park:

• Xfinity Internet, with gigabit+ speeds available, which includes access to a network of 22 million Xfinity Wi-Fihotspots in locations across the country.
• Xfinity xFi, which allows high-speed internet customers to personalize and control their in-home Wi-Fi experience.
• Xfinity Flex, a simplified streaming solution for Xfinity Internet customers who choose not to subscribe to traditional cable TV service.
• Xfinity Mobile, Comcast’s mobile phone service.
• Xfinity X1 entertainment platformand voice remote.
• Xfinity Home, a total home security and automation solution.

Businesses in Palos Park will also have access to Comcast Business’ full suite of services, including Internet speeds up to 100 Gigabits per second, Ethernet, Advanced Voice, Comcast Business Mobile and a variety of cloud services and other advanced services.

Closing the digital divide

Comcast will also bring its Internet Essentials program to Palos Park. Internet Essentials is a low-cost Internet service available to eligible low-income households with students of all ages, seniors, veterans, people with disabilities and public housing residents enrolled in government assistance programs, ranging from Medicaid and SSI to SNAP. Comcast participates in the federal Affordable Connectivity Program, which provides eligible low-income families up to $30/month toward the cost of their Internet and/or mobile bills. ACP can cover the full cost of Comcast’s Internet Essentials and Internet Essentials Plus service tiers, making them free.
