Donate to Capitol News Illinois’ during its NewsMatch fundraising campaign
Capitol News Illinois today begins its year-end NewsMatch fundraising campaign.
It has been a big year for Capitol News Illinois, and 2023 promises to be even better! The news service operated by the Illinois Press Foundation received a $2 million, 3-year grant from the Robert R. McCormick Foundation.
That grant will allow CNI to begin broadcast operations in 2023, expand its print reporting team, and increase its development and fundraising resources. The broadcast operations also are enhanced by a financial partnership with the Illinois Broadcasters Association. The Southern Illinois Editorial Association also recently made a 2-year donation to Capitol News Illinois.
In the nearly four years since its launch in January 2019, Capitol News Illinois has established itself as a fair, nonpartisan and authoritative reporting voice at the Statehouse. Its stories have been published more than 75,000 times in more than 460 daily and nondaily newspapers throughout the state. Its coverage is also shared with and published by broadcast outlets statewide.
All of this happens through grants and donations. Capitol News Illinois does not charge readers for access to our coverage, and content is distributed at no cost to news partners.
Which is why fundraising campaigns like NewsMatch are vital to CNI’s continued successes and expansion.
We’re excited to share that we have an opportunity to make your donation go even further this year through NewsMatch, a collaborative fundraising movement to support independent, public service journalism like ours.
Here’s how it works.
Starting TODAY — through December 31 — NewsMatch will match your new monthly donation 12 times or double your one-time gift, all up to $1,000. That means that, through NewsMatch, we can earn up to $15,000.
ALSO, the first $5,000 in individual donations will be matched by The Joyce Foundation. That means your donation will count 3x for Capitol News Illinois!
If you believe in the work we’re doing, will you give today to triple the impact of your donation?
You can donate here.
