Lifelong area resident, Betty Brady, passes away at 94

Betty Brady, a lifelong area resident of Summit and Bedford Park, and the mother of Bedford Park Mayor David Brady, passed away on February 26 at the age of 94.
She was born in Summit on November 3, 1927.
Mrs. Brady graduated from Zion Lutheran School in Summit in 1941, and from Argo Community High School in 1945.
She met her future husband, Raymond, while they were students at Argo High School. They were married for 64 years.
Betty held many jobs, including at Argo High School where many remember her from working in the cafeteria. Many others remember her from working at Argo Corn Products.
She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, and at Zion Lutheran Church, where she was a lifelong member.
She was a part-time member at Concordia Lutheran in Sarasota, Florida.
Betty was adored by all who knew her.
Bedford Park Village Trustee Nancy Wesolowski told the Desplaines Valley News, “On behalf of the Bedford Park Board, Mrs. Brady will be deeply missed and forever remember by all who knew her. She was a sweet and gentle neighbor, who always wore a smile on her face. She loved her community and her church, as well as her Chicago Blackhawks.”
Auxiliary member, and lifelong Bedford Park resident, Bridget Ormins, remembers Mrs. Brady as a sweet soul. “Mrs. Brady was the kind of woman that had a caring heart and a kind word for everyone that passed by. She was just that sweet person. You couldn’t help but smile just seeing her.”
Betty Brady is survived by her son, David, and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Elsie Clinnin, husband Raymond Brady, daughter Shauna, her brother Joseph (Alice) Clinnin, and her sister Fern (Harry) Bumber.
Donations in Betty’s memory can be made to the Argo Higher Education Fund or Zion Lutheran Church.
Betty’s wake was held at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home, 7861 S. 88th Avenue, in Justice on Tuesday, March 1.
Her funeral service was at Zion Lutheran Church, in Summit on March 2, followed by Interment at Bethania Cemetery in Justice.
